“And She Walked On” by GiGi To Man Chee

Removing two zero eight six from my timetable,
I reluctantly enrol in a different course on a different day.
There’s no doubt poetry is not replaceable,
But the die has been cast for my schedule on Fridays.

My teacher enthusiastically asked us to read a cat poem, lightly,
………………………………………………………light-heartedly.
I wanted to respond, but could imagine my voice coming out in a sob.
Poetry’s the only thing I have wanted to do for the last few years.
Why does reality always drive me to tears?

I stepped out of the classroom feeling defeated.
There were students outside, waiting for the next class,
…………………………………………..looking upbeat.
My classmates and I waved goodbye to our teacher,
    ,,,,,….hoping she would look back.
But the corridor was long, and she walked on.
